Surah Al-Hajj • Ayah 74

The insignificance of the Idols and the foolishness of their WorshippersHere Allah points out the insignificance of the idols and the foolishness of those who worship them.يأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ضُرِبَ مَثَلٌ(O mankind! A parable has been made,) meaning, a parable of that which is worshipped by those who are ignorant of Allah and who join others as partners with Him.فَاسْتَمِعُواْ لَهُ(so listen to it) pay attention and understand.إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ لَن يَخْلُقُواْ ذُبَاباً وَلَوِ اجْتَمَعُواْ لَهُ(Verily, those on whom you call besides Allah, cannot create a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose.) Even if all the idols and false gods whom you worship were to come together to create a single fly, they would not be able to do that. Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Hurayrah recorded the Marfu` report:«وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ (خَلْقًا) كَخَلْقِي، فَلْيَخْلُقُوا مِثْلَ خَلْقِي ذَرَّةً أَوْ ذُبَابَةً أَوْ حَبَّة»("Who does more wrong than one who tries to create something like My creation Let them create an ant or a fly or a seed like My creation!") This was also recorded by the authors of the Two Sahihs via `Umarah from Abu Zur`ah from Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Prophet said: a«قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذَهَبَ يَخْلُقُ كَخَلْقِي، فَلْيَخْلُقُوا ذَرَّةً، فَلْيَخْلُقُوا شَعِيرَة»(Allah says: "Who does more wrong than one who tries to create (something) like My creation Let them create an ant, let them create a grain of barley.") Then Allah says:وَإِن يَسْلُبْهُمُ الذُّبَابُ شَيْئاً لاَّ يَسْتَنقِذُوهُ مِنْهُ(And if the fly snatches away a thing from them, they will have no power to release it from the fly.) They are unable to create a single fly and, moreover, they are unable to resist it or take revenge against it if it were to take anything from the good and perfumed thing on which it lands. If they wanted to recover that, they would not be able to, even though the fly is the weakest and most insignificant of Allah's creatures. Allah says:ضَعُفَ الطَّالِبُ وَالْمَطْلُوبُ(So weak are the seeker and the sought.) Ibn `Abbas said, "The seeker is the idol and the sought is the fly." This was the view favored by Ibn Jarir, and it is what is apparent from the context. As-Suddi and others said, "The seeker is the worshipper, and the sought is the idol." Then Allah says:مَا قَدَرُواْ اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ(They have not regarded Allah with His rightful esteem.) meaning, they have not recognized the might and power of Allah when they wor- ship alongside Him those who cannot even ward off a fly, because they are so weak and incapable.إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ(Verily, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty.) means, He is the All-Strong Who, by His might and power, created all things.وَهُوَ الَّذِى يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ وَهُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِ(And He it is Who originates the creation, then He will repeat it; and this is easier for Him) 30:27إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ - إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِىءُ وَيُعِيدُ (Verily, the punishment of your Lord is severe and painful. Verily, He it is Who begins and repeats.) 85:12-13إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ (Verily, Allah is the Provider, Owner of power, the Most Strong.) 51:58.عَزِيزٌ(All-Mighty) means, He has subjugated and subdued all things, and there is none that can resist Him or overcome His might and power, and He is the One, the Subduer.

کم عقل پجاری ٭٭اللہ کے ماسوا جن کے عبادت کی جاتی ہے ان کی کمزوری اور ان کے پجاریوں کی کم عقلی بیان ہو رہی ہے کہ ” اے لوگو! یہ جاہل جس جس کی بھی اللہ کے سوا عبادت کرتے ہیں، رب کے ساتھ یہ جو شرک کرتے ہیں، ان کی ایک مثال نہایت عمدہ اور بالکل واقعہ کے مطابق بیان ہو رہی ہے ذرا توجہ سے سنو۔ کہ ان کے تمام کے تمام بت، بزرگ وغیرہ جنہیں یہ اللہ کا شریک ٹھہرا رہے ہیں، جمع ہو جائیں اور ایک مکھی بنانا چاہیں تو سارے عاجز آ جائیں گے اور ایک مکھی بھی پیدا نہ کر سکیں گے “۔ مسند احمد کی حدیث قدسی میں فرمان الٰہی ہے اس سے زیادہ ظالم کون ہے جو میری طرح کسی کو بنانا چاہتا ہے۔ اگر واقعی میں کسی کو یہ قدرت حاصل ہے تو ایک ذرہ، ایک مکھی یا ایک دانہ اناج کا ہی خود بنادیں ۔ [مسند احمد:391/2:صحیح] ‏ بخاری و مسلم میں الفاظ یوں ہیں کہ ” وہ ایک ذرہ یا ایک جو ہی بنادیں “۔ [صحیح بخاری:5953] ‏ اچھا اور بھی ان کے معبودان باطل کی کمزوری اور ناتوانی سنو کہ ” یہ ایک مکھی کا مقابلہ بھی نہیں کر سکتے وہ ان کا حق ان کی چیز ان سے چھینے چلی جا رہی ہے، یہ بے بس ہیں، یہ بھی تو نہیں کر سکتے کہ اس سے اپنی چیز ہی واپس لے لیں بھلا مکھی جیسی حقیر اور کمزور مخلوق سے بھی جو اپنا حق نہ لے سکے اس سے بھی زیادہ کمزور، بودا ضعیف ناتوان بے بس اور گرا پڑا کوئی اور ہوسکتا ہے؟ “ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما فرماتے ہیں ”طالب“ سے مراد بت اور ”مطلوب“ سے مراد مکھی ہے۔ امام ابن جریر رحمتہ اللہ علیہ بھی اسی کو پسند کرتے ہیں اور ظاہر لفظوں سے بھی یہی ظاہر ہے۔ دوسرا مطلب یہ بیان فرمایا گیا ہے کہ طالب سے مراد عابد اور مطلوب سے مراد اللہ کے سوا اور معبود۔ اللہ کی قدروعظمت ہی ان کے دلوں میں نہیں رچی اگر ایسا ہوتا تو اتنے بڑے توانا اللہ کے ساتھ ایسی ذلیل مخلوق کو کیوں شریک کر لیتے۔ جو مکھی اڑانے کی بھی قدرت نہیں رکھتی جیسے مشرکین قریش کے بت تھے۔ اللہ اپنی قدرت وقوت میں یکتا ہے تمام چیزیں بے نمونہ «وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ وَهُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْهِ» [30-الروم:27] ‏ ” سب سے پہلی پیدائش میں اس نے پیدا کر دی ہیں کسی ایک سے بھی مدد لیے بغیر پھر سب کو ہلاک کر کے دوبارہ اس سے بھی زیادہ آسانی سے پیدا کرنے پر قادر ہے “۔ «إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ» [85-البروج:13-12] ‏ ” وہ بڑی مضبوط پکڑ والا، ابتداء اور اعادہ کرنے والا “، «إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ» [51-الذاريات:58] ‏ ” رزق دینے والا، اور بے انداز قوت رکھنے والا ہے “، ” سب کچھ اس کے سامنے پست ہے، کوئی اس کے ارادے کو بدلنے والا، اس کے فرمان کو ٹالنے والا اس کی عظمت اور سلطنت کا مقابلہ کرنے والا نہیں، وہ واحد قہار ہے “۔صفحہ نمبر5669

آیت 74 مَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰہَ حَقَّ قَدْرِہٖ ط ”ایسے لوگ اللہ کی کما حقہّ معرفت حاصل نہ کرسکے اور جلال و جمالِ الٰہی کی کوئی جھلک نہ دیکھ سکے اور یوں دنیا اور اس کی چیزوں کو اصل مطلوب و مقصود سمجھ کر اس عروس ہزار داماد کے عاشق بن بیٹھے !

مَا قَدَرُ‌وا اللَّـهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِ‌هِ (They did not recognize Allah in His true esteem - 22:74). It means that these people are so foolish and ungrateful that they did not recognize the power of Allah Ta’ ala and place their helpless idols at the same level with Him.
