Change of Qibla — From Jerusalem to Makkah
🔬 worshipFor 16–17 months after the Hijra, Muslims prayed facing Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). Then the verse was revealed: "Turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram" (2:144). The change occurred during a prayer at Masjid al-Qiblatain (Mosque of the Two Qiblas), when the verse was revealed mid-prayer and the congregation turned 180° to face Makkah. This change was a trial that distinguished true believers from hypocrites.
