Surah Ar-Rum (The Romans) • Ayah 22

وَمِنْ ءَايَـتِهِ(And among His signs) indicating His magnificent power.خَلَقَ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالأَرْضَ(is the creation of the heavens and the earth,) The heavens with their vast height and brightness and beauty of the stars and planets, and the earth with its density and its mountains, valleys, seas, plains, animals and trees.وَاخْتِلَـفُ أَلْسِنَتِكُمْ(and the difference of your languages) So, we see that some speak Arabic, and the Tatars have their own language, as do the Georgians, Romans, Franks, Berbers, Tou Couleurs (of Sudan), Ethiopians, Indians, Persians, Slavs, Khazars, Armenians, Kurds and others. Only Allah knows the variety of languages spoken among the sons of Adam. And the difference of their colors mentioned here refers to their appearance, for all the people of this world, from the time that Allah created Adam, and until the Hour begins, each of them has two eyes, two eyebrows, a nose, a forehead, a mouth and two cheeks, but none of them looks like another; there is bound to be some difference in posture, appearance and speech, whether it is apparent or is hidden and can only be noticed with careful observation. Each face has its own characteristics and does not look like another; even if there was a group of people who looked alike, having a beautiful or ugly characteristic in common, there would still be a difference between one person and the next.إِنَّ فِى ذلِكَ لأَيَـتٍ لِّلْعَـلَمِينَ(Verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge.)وَمِنْ ءايَـتِهِ مَنَامُكُم بِالَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَابْتِغَآؤُكُمْ مِّن فَضْلِهِ(And among His signs is your sleep by night and by day, and your seeking of His bounty.) Among His signs is the cycle of sleep that He has created during the night and the day, when people are able to cease moving and rest, so that their tiredness and exhaustion will go away. And He has enabled you to seek to earn a living and to travel about during the day, this is the opposite of sleep.إِنَّ فِى ذلِكَ لآيَـتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ(Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who listen.) meaning, understand.

یہ رنگ یہ زبانیں اور وسیع تر کائنات ٭٭رب العلمین اپنی زبردست قدرت کی ایک نشانی اور بیان فرماتا ہے کہ اس قدر بلند کشادہ آسمان کی پیدائش اس میں ستاروں کا جڑاؤ ان کی چمک دمک ان میں سے بعض کا چلتا پھرتا ہونا بعض کا ایکجا ثابت رہنا زمین کو ایک ٹھوس شکل میں بنانا اسے کثیف پیدا کرنا اس میں پہاڑ میدان جنگل دریا سمندر ٹیلے پتھر درخت وغیرہ جمادینا۔ خود تمہاری زبانوں میں رنگتوں میں اختلاف رکھنا عرب کی زبان تاتاریوں کی زبان، کر دوں، رومیوں، فرنگیوں، تکرونیوں، بربر، حبشیوں، ہندیوں، ایرانیوں، حقابلہ، آرمینوں، جزریوں اور اللہ جانے کتنی کتنی زبانیں زمین پر بنو آدم میں بولی جاتی ہیں۔ انسانی زبانوں کے اختلاف کے ساتھ ہی ان کی رنگتوں کا اختلاف بھی شان اللہ کا مظہر ہے۔ خیال تو فرمائیے کہ لاکھوں آدمی جمع ہو جائیں ایک کنبے قبیلے کے ایک ملک ایک زبان کے ہوں لیکن ناممکن ہے کہ ہر ایک میں کوئی نہ کوئی اختلاف نہ ہو۔ حالانکہ اعضائے بدن کے اعتبار سے کلی موافقت ہے۔ سب کی دو آنکھیں دو پلکیں ایک ناک دو دو کان ایک پیشانی ایک منہ دو ہونٹ دو رخسار وغیرہ لیکن تاہم ایک سے ایک علیحدہ ہے۔ کوئی نہ کوئی عادت خصلت کلام بات چیت طرز ادا ایسی ضرور ہو گی کہ جس میں ایک دوسرے کا امتیاز ہو جائے گو وہ بعض مرتبہ پوشیدہ سی اور ہلکی سی چیزیں ہی ہو۔ گو خوبصورتی اور بدصورتی میں کئی ایک یکساں نظر آئیں لیکن جب غور کیا جائے تو ہر ایک کو دوسرے سے ممتاز کرنے والا کوئی نہ کوئی وصف ضرور نظر آ جائے گا۔ ہر جاننے والا اتنی بڑی طاقتوں اور قوتوں کے مالک کو پہچان سکتا ہے اور اس صنعت سے صانع کو جان سکتا ہے۔ نیند بھی قدرت کی ایک نشانی ہے جس سے تھکان دور ہو جاتی ہے راحت وسکون حاصل ہوتا ہے اس کے لیے قدرت نے رات بنادی۔ کام کاج کے لیے دنیا حاصل کرنے کے لیے کمائی دھندے کے لیے تلاش معاش کے لیے اللہ نے دن کو پیدا کر دیا جو رات کے بالکل خلاف ہے۔ یقیناً سننے سمجھنے والوں کے لیے یہ چیزیں نشان قدرت ہیں۔ طبرانی میں سیدنا زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ راتوں کو میری نیند اچاٹ ہوجایا کرتی تھی تو میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس امر کی شکایت کی، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ دعا پڑھا کرو «اللَّهُمَّ غَارَتِ النُّجُومُ، وَهَدَأَتِ الْعُيُونُ، وَأَنْتَ حَيٌّ قَيُّومٌ، يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ، أَنِمْ عَيْنِي وَ أَهْدِئْ لَيْلِي» میں نے جب اس دعا کو پڑھا تو نیند نہ آنے کی بیماری بفضل اللہ دور ہوگئی ۔ [سلسلة احادیث ضعیفه البانی:1328،] ‏صفحہ نمبر6780

وَاخْتِلَافُ اَلْسِنَتِکُمْ وَاَلْوَانِکُمْ ط ”پوری دنیا کے انسانوں کے درمیان بولی جانے والی طرح طرح کی زبانوں کے اندر پایاجانے والا تنوّع بھی اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے ہے۔ اسی طرح مختلف خطوں میں بسنے والے انسانوں کے مختلف رنگ بھی اس کی صناعی اور خلاقی کے مظاہر کی مثالیں ہیں کہ کس طرح ایک ہی نسل سے تعلق کے باوجود کوئی زرد رو ہے تو کوئی سرخ رو ‘ کوئی سفید فام ہے تو کوئی سیاہ فام۔

The same way there are differences of colour and hue. It is seen that babies of different colour and hue take birth from the same parents under the same circumstances. All this is the marvel of Allah's creation. The wisdom behind the difference of colours requires a lengthy description which is beyond our scope, but many of these wisdoms can be easily understood by a little reflection.While referring to this sign of the divine omnipotence, this verse has mentioned creation or many things, such as sky, earth, the difference of languages and dialects, difference of colour in humans, which are all signs of Divine wisdom and can be recognized and understood with little attention. Hence, it is added at the end of the verse:إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْعَالِمِينَ (Surely in this there are signs for the persons of knowledge - 30:22).
