Surah Al-Baqarah • Ayah 166

The Condition of the Polytheists in this Life and the HereafterIn these Ayat, Allah mentions the condition of the polytheists in this life and their destination in the Hereafter. They appointed equals and rivals with Allah, worshipping them along with Allah and loving them, just as they love Allah. However, Allah is the only deity worthy of worship, Who has neither rival nor opponent nor partner. It is reported in the Sahihayn that `Abdullah bin Mas`ud said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! What is the greatest sin" He said:«أَنْ تَجْعَلَ للهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَك»(To appoint a rival to Allah while He Alone has created you.)Allah said:وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِلَّهِ(But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else))Because these believers love Allah, know His greatness, revere Him, believe in His Oneness, then they do not associate anything or anyone with Him in the worship. Rather, they worship Him Alone, depend on Him and they seek help from Him for each and every need.Then, Allah warns those who commit Shirk,وَلَوْ يَرَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ إِذْ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ أَنَّ الْقُوَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا(If only, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allah.) if these people knew what they will face and the terrible punishment they are to suffer because of their disbelief and Shirk (polytheism), then they would shun the deviation that they live by.Allah mentions their false beliefs in their idols, and that those they followed will declare their innocence of them. Allah said:إِذْ تَبَرَّأَ الَّذِينَ اتُّبِعُواْ مِنَ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُواْ(When those who were followed disown (declare themselves innocent of) those who followed (them).) the angels, whom they used to claim that they worshipped, declare their innocence of them in the Hereafter, saying:تَبَرَّأْنَآ إِلَيْكَ مَا كَانُواْ إِيَّانَا يَعْبُدُونَ(We declare our innocence (from them) before You. It was not us they worshipped.) (28:63), and:سُبْحَـنَكَ أَنتَ وَلِيُّنَا مِن دُونِهِمْ بَلْ كَانُواْ يَعْبُدُونَ الْجِنَّ أَكْـثَرُهُم بِهِم مُّؤْمِنُونَ("Glorified be You! You are our Wali (Lord) instead of them. Nay, but they used to worship the Jinn; most of them were believers in them.") (34:4)The Jinn will also disown the disbelievers who worshipped them, and they will reject that worship. Allah said:وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن يَدْعُو مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَن لاَّ يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَـمَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَآئِهِمْ غَـفِلُونَ - وَإِذَا حُشِرَ النَّاسُ كَانُواْ لَهُمْ أَعْدَآءً وَكَانُواْ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كَـفِرِينَ(And who is more astray than one who calls on (invokes) besides Allah, such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them And when mankind are gathered (on the Day of Resurrection), they (false deities) will become their enemies and will deny their worshipping.) (46:5, 6) Allah said:وَاتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ ءالِهَةً لِّيَكُونُواْ لَهُمْ عِزّاًكَلاَّ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَـدَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدّاً(And they have taken (for worship) alihah (gods) besides Allah, that they might give them honor, power and glory (and also protect them from Allah' punishment). Nay, but they (the so-called gods) will deny their worship of them, and become opponents to them (on the Day of Resurrection).) (19:81, 82) Prophet Ibrahim said to his people:إِنَّمَا اتَّخَذْتُمْ مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَـناً مَّوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِى الْحَيَوةِ الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَـمَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُمْ بِبَعْضٍ وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِّن نَّـصِرِينَ(You have taken (for worship) idols instead of Allah. The love between you is only in the life of this world, but on the Day of Resurrection, you shall disown each other, and curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire, and you shall have no helper.) (29:25) Allah said:وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذِ الظَّـلِمُونَ مَوْقُوفُونَ عِندَ رَبّهِمْ يَرْجِعُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ الْقَوْلَ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُواْ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ لَوْلاَ أَنتُمْ لَكُنَّا مُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُواْ أَنَحْنُ صَدَدنَـكُمْ عَنِ الْهُدَى بَعْدَ إِذْ جَآءكُمْ بَلْ كُنتُمْ مُّجْرِمِينَ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُواْ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ بَلْ مَكْرُ الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ إِذْ تَأْمُرُونَنَآ أَن نَّكْفُرَ بِاللَّهِ وَنَجْعَلَ لَهُ أَندَاداً وَأَسَرُّواْ النَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُاْ اْلَعَذَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا الاْغْلَـلَ فِى أَعْنَاقِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ(But if you could see when the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) will be made to stand before their Lord,how they will cast the (blaming) word one to another! Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Had it not been for you, we should certainly have been believers!" And those who were arrogant will say to those who were deemed weak: "Did we keep you back from guidance after it had come to you Nay, but you were Mujrimin (polytheists, sinners, disbelievers, criminals)." Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Nay, but it was your plotting by night and day, when you ordered us to disbelieve in Allah and set up rivals to Him!" And each of them (parties) will conceal their own regrets (for disobeying Allah during this worldly life), when they behold the torment. And We shall put iron collars round the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they requited aught except what they used to do) (34:31-33) Allah said:وَقَالَ الشَّيْطَـنُ لَمَّا قُضِىَ الاٌّمْرُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَعَدَكُمْ وَعْدَ الْحَقِّ وَوَعَدتُّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ لِىَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِّن سُلْطَـنٍ إِلاَّ أَن دَعَوْتُكُمْ فَاسْتَجَبْتُمْ لِى فَلاَ تَلُومُونِى وَلُومُواْ أَنفُسَكُمْ مَّآ أَنَاْ بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ بِمُصْرِخِىَّ إِنِّى كَفَرْتُ بِمَآ أَشْرَكْتُمُونِ مِن قَبْلُ إِنَّ الظَّـلِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ(And Shaytan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, and you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimin (polytheists and wrongdoers).) (14:22)Allah then said:وَرَأَوُاْ الْعَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ الاٌّسْبَابُ(...and they see the torment, then all their relations will be cut off from them.) meaning, when they see Allah's torment, their power and means of salvation are all cut off, and they will have no way of making amends, nor will they find a way of escape from the Fire. `Ata' reported that Ibn `Abbas said about:وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ الاٌّسْبَابُ(then all their relations will be cut off from them.) "meaning the friendship." Mujahid reported a similar statement in another narration by Ibn Abu Najih.Allah said:وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُواْ لَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَتَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا تَبَرَّءُواْ مِنَّا(And those who followed will say: "If only we had one more chance to return (to the worldly life), we would disown (declare ourselves as innocent from) them as they have disowned (declared themselves as innocent from) us.")This Ayah means: `If we only had a chance to go back to the life so that we could disown them (their idols, leaders, etc.) shun their worship, ignore them and worship Allah Alone instead.' But they utter a lie in this regard, because if they were given the chance to go back, they would only return to what they were prohibited from doing, just as Allah said. This is why Allah said:كَذَلِكَ يُرِيهِمُ اللَّهُ أَعْمَـلَهُمْ حَسَرَتٍ عَلَيْهِمْ(Thus Allah will show them their deeds as regrets for them.) meaning, their works will vanish and disappear. Similarly, Allah said:وَقَدِمْنَآ إِلَى مَا عَمِلُواْ مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَآءً مَّنثُوراً(And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.) (25:23)Allah also said:مَّثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِمْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ كَرَمَادٍ اشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ الرِّيحُ فِي يَوْمٍ عَاصِفٍ(The parable of those who disbelieved in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day.) (14:18), and:وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ أَعْمَـلُهُمْ كَسَرَابٍ بِقِيعَةٍ يَحْسَبُهُ الظَّمْآنُ مَآءً(As for those who disbelieved, their deeds are like a mirage in a desert. The thirsty one thinks it to be water.) (24:39)This is why Allah said ـ at the end of the Ayah 2:167 aboveوَمَا هُم بِخَـرِجِينَ مِنَ النَّارِ(And they will never get out of the Fire.)

محبت الہٰ اپنی پسند ہے؟ ٭٭اس آیت میں مشرکین کا دنیوی اور اخروی حال بیان ہو رہا ہے، یہ اللہ کا شریک مقرر کرتے ہیں اس جیسا اوروں کو ٹھہراتے ہیں اور پھر ان کی محبت اپنے دل میں ایسی ہی جماتے ہیں جیسی اللہ کی ہونی چاہیئے حالانکہ وہ معبود برحق صرف ایک ہی ہے، وہ شریک اور حصہ داری سے پاک ہے بخاری و مسلم میں سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے فرماتے ہیں میں نے پوچھا یا رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ سب سے بڑا گناہ کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا اللہ کے ساتھ شرک کرنا حالانکہ پیدا اسی اکیلے نے کیا ہے۔ [صحیح بخاری:7520] ‏ پھر فرمایا ایماندار اللہ تعالیٰ کی محبت میں بہت سخت ہوتے ہیں ان کے دل عظمت الٰہی اور توحید ربانی سے معمور ہوتے ہیں، وہ اللہ کے سوا دوسرے سے ایسی محبت نہیں کرتے کسی اور سے التجا کرتے ہیں نہ دوسروں کی طرف جھکتے ہیں نہ اس کی پاک ذات کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک ٹھہراتے ہیں۔ پھر ان مشرکین کو جو اپنی جانوں پر شرک کے بوجھ کا ظلم کرتے ہیں انہیں اس عذاب کی خبر پہنچاتا ہے کہ اگر یہ لوگ اسے دیکھ لیں تو یقین ہو جائے کہ قدرتوں والا صرف اللہ تعالیٰ ہی ہے، تمام چیزیں اسی کے ماتحت اور زیر فرمان ہیں اور اس کا عذاب بڑا بھاری ہے۔صفحہ نمبر603جیسے اور جگہ ہے کہ «فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ» [ 89-الفجر: 25، 26 ] ‏ اس دن نہ تو اس کے عذاب جیسا کوئی عذاب کر سکتا ہے نہ اس کی پکڑ جیسی کسی کی پکڑ ہو سکتی، دوسرا مطلب یہ بھی ہے کہ اگر انہیں اس منظر کا علم ہوتا تو یہ اپنی گمراہی اور شرک و کفر پر ہرگز نہ اڑتے۔ اس دن ان لوگوں نے جن جن کو اپنا پیشوا بنا رکھا تھا وہ سب ان سے الگ ہو جائیں گے، فرشتے کہیں گے اللہ ہم ان سے بیزار ہیں یہ ہماری عبادت نہیں کرتے تھے اللہ تری ذات پاک ہے تو ہی ہمارا ولی ہے، یہ لوگ تو جنات کی عبادت کرتے ہیں انہیں پر ایمان رکھتے تھے، اسی طرح جنات بھی ان سے بیزاری کا اعلان کریں گے اور صاف صاف ان کے دشمن ہو جائیں گے اور عبادت سے انکار کریں گے اور جگہ قرآن میں ہے کہ یہ لوگ جن جن کی عبادت کرتے تھے وہ سب کے سب قیامت کے دن آیت «سَيَكْفُرُوْنَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُوْنُوْنَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدًّا» [ 19۔ مریم: 82 ] ‏ ان کی عبادت سے انکار کریں گے اور ان کے دشمن بن جائیں گے، خلیل اللہ علیہ السلام کا فرمان ہے آیت «اِنَّمَا اتَّخَذْتُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اَوْثَانًا مَّوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِي الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا» [ 29۔ العنکبوت: 25 ] ‏ تم نے اللہ کے سوا بتوں کی محبت دل میں بٹھا کر ان کی پوجا شروع کر دی ہے قیامت کے دن وہ تمہاری عبادت کا انکار کریں گے اور آپس میں ایک دوسرے پر لعنت بھیجیں گے اور تمہارا ٹھکانہ جہنم ہو گا اور تمہارا مددگار کوئی نہ ہو گا۔صفحہ نمبر604اسی طرح اور جگہ ہےآیت «وَلَوْ تَرٰٓى اِذِ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ مَوْقُوْفُوْنَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ ښ يَرْجِــعُ بَعْضُهُمْ اِلٰى بَعْضِ الْقَوْلَ يَقُوْلُ الَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ اسْـتَكْبَرُوْا لَوْلَآ اَنْتُمْ لَكُنَّا مُؤْمِنِيْنَ قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا أَنَحْنُ صَدَدْنَاكُمْ عَنِ الْهُدَىٰ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَاءَكُم بَلْ كُنتُم مُّجْرِمِينَ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا بَلْ مَكْرُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ إِذْ تَأْمُرُونَنَا أَن نَّكْفُرَ بِاللَّـهِ وَنَجْعَلَ لَهُ أَندَادًا وَأَسَرُّوا النَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا الْعَذَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا الْأَغْلَالَ فِي أَعْنَاقِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ» [ 34۔ سبأ: 33، 31 ] ‏ یعنی یہ ظالم رب کے سامنے کھڑے ہوئے ہوں گے اور اپنے پیشواؤں سے کہہ رہے ہوں گے کہ اگر تم نہ ہوتے تو ہم ایماندار بن جاتے، وہ جواب دیں گے کیا ہم نے تمہیں اللہ پرستی سے روکا؟ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تم خود مجرم تھے، وہ کہیں گے تمہاری دن رات کی مکاریاں تمہارے کفرانہ احکام تمہاری شرف کی تعلیم نے ہمیں پھانس لیا، اب سب دل سے نا دم ہوں گے اور ان کی گردنوں میں ان کے برے اعمال کے طوق ہوں گے اور جگہ ہے کہ اس دن شیطان بھی کہے گا آیت «وَقَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ لَمَّا قُضِيَ الْأَمْرُ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ وَعَدَكُمْ وَعْدَ الْحَقِّ وَوَعَدتُّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ لِيَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ إِلَّا أَن دَعَوْتُكُمْ فَاسْتَجَبْتُمْ لِي فَلَا تَلُومُونِي وَلُومُوا أَنفُسَكُم مَّا أَنَا بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ وَمَا أَنتُم بِمُصْرِخِيَّ إِنِّي كَفَرْتُ بِمَا أَشْرَكْتُمُونِ مِن قَبْلُ إِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ» [ 14۔ ابراہیم: 22 ] ‏ یعنی اللہ کا وعدہ تو سچا تھا اور میں تمہیں جو سبز باغ دکھایا کرتا تھا وہ محض دھوکہ تھا لیکن تم پر میرا کوئی زور تو نہیں تھا میں نے تمہیں صرف کہا اور تم نے منظور کر لیا اب مجھے ملامت کرنے سے کیا فائدہ؟ اب اپنی جانوں کو لعنت ملامت کرو۔ نہ میں تمہاری مدد کر سکتا ہوں نہ تم میری، میرا تمہارے اگلے شرک سے کوئی واسطہ نہیں جان لو کہ ظالموں کے لیے درناک عذاب ہے پھر فرمایا کہ وہ عذاب دیکھ لیں گے اور اور تمام اسباب منقطع ہو جائیں گے نہ کوئی بھاگنے کی جگہ رہے گی نہ چھٹکارے کی کوئی صورت نظر آئے گی دوستیاں کٹ جائیں گی رشتے ٹوٹ جائیں گے۔صفحہ نمبر605اور بلادلیل باتیں ماننے والے بے وجہ اعتقاد رکھنے والے پوجا پاٹ اور اطاعت کرنے والے جب اپنے پیشواؤں کو اس طرح بری الذمہ ہوتے ہوئے دیکھیں گے تو نہایت حسرت ویاس سے کہیں گے کہ اگر اب ہم دنیا میں لوٹ جائیں تو ہم بھی ان سے ایسے ہی بیزار ہو جائیں جیسے یہ ہم سے ہوئے نہ ان کی طرف التفات کریں نہ ان کی باتیں مانیں نہ انہیں شریک اللہ سمجھیں بلکہ اللہ واحد کی خالص عبادت کریں۔ حالانکہ اگر درحقیقت یہ لوٹائے بھی جائیں تو وہی کریں گے جو اس سے پہلے کرتے تھے جیسے فرمایا آیت «وَلَوْ رُدُّوْا لَعَادُوْا لِمَا نُهُوْا عَنْهُ وَاِنَّهُمْ لَكٰذِبُوْنَ» [ 6۔ الانعام: 28 ] ‏ اسی لیے یہاں فرمایا اللہ تعالیٰ ان کے کرتوت اسی طرح دکھائے گا ان پر حسرت و افسوس ہے یعنی اعمال نیک جو تھے وہ بھی ضائع ہو گئے جیسے اور جگہ ہے آیت «وَقَدِمْنَآ اِلٰى مَا عَمِلُوْا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَـعَلْنٰهُ هَبَاءً مَّنْثُوْرًا» [ 25۔ الفرقان: 23 ] ‏ اور جگہ ہے آیت «اَعْمَالُهُمْ كَرَمَادِ اشْـتَدَّتْ بِهِ الرِّيْحُ فِيْ يَوْمٍ عَاصِفٍ» [ 14۔ ابراہیم: 18 ] ‏ اور جگہ ہے آیت «وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَعْمَالُهُمْ كَسَرَابٍ بِقِيعَةٍ يَحْسَبُهُ الظَّمْآنُ مَاءً حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَهُ لَمْ يَجِدْهُ شَيْئًا وَوَجَدَ اللَّـهَ عِندَهُ فَوَفَّاهُ حِسَابَهُ وَاللَّـهُ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ» [ 24۔ النور: 39 ] ‏ یعنی ان کے اعمال برباد ہیں ان کے اعمال کی مثال راکھ کی طرح ہے جسے تند ہوائیں اڑا دیں، ان کے اعمال ریت کی طرح ہیں جو دور سے پانی دکھائی دیتا ہے مگر پاس جاؤ توریت کا تودا ہوتا ہے۔ پھر فرماتا ہے کہ یہ لوگ آگ سے نکلنے والے نہیں۔صفحہ نمبر606

آیت 166 اِذْ تَبَرَّاَ الَّذِیْنَ اتُّبِعُوْا مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اتَّبَعُوْا ہر انسانی معاشرے میں کچھ ایسے لوگ ضرور ہوتے ہیں جو دوسرے لوگوں کو اپنے پیچھے لگا لیتے ہیں ‘ چاہے ارباب اقتدار ہوں ‘ چاہے مذہبی مسندوں کے والی ہوں۔ لوگ انہیں اپنے پیشوا اور راہنما مان کر ان کی پیروی کرتے ہیں اور ان کی ہر سچی جھوٹی بات پر سر تسلیم خم کرتے ہیں۔ جب عذاب آخرت ظاہر ہوگا تو یہ پیشوا اور راہنما اس عذاب سے بچانے میں اپنے پیروؤں کے کچھ بھی کام نہ آئیں گے اور ان سے صاف صاف اظہار براءت اور اعلان لاتعلقی کردیں گے۔وَرَاَوُا الْعَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِہِمُ الْاَسْبَابُ جب جہنم ان کی نگاہوں کے سامنے آجائے گی تو تمام رشتے منقطع ہوجائیں گے۔ سورة عبس میں اس نفسا نفسی کا نقشہ یوں کھینچا گیا ہے : یَوْمَ یَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ اَخِیْہِ وَاُمِّہٖ وَاَبِیْہِ وَصَاحِبَتِہٖ وَبَنِیْہِ لِکُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْہُمْ یَوْمَءِذٍ شَاْنٌ یُّغْنِیْہِ اس روز آدمی بھاگے گا اپنے بھائی سے ‘ اور اپنی ماں اور اپنے باپ سے ‘ اور اپنی بیوی اور اپنی اولاد سے۔ ان میں سے ہر شخص پر اس دن ایسا وقت آپڑے گا کہ اسے اپنے سوا کسی کا ہوش نہ ہوگا۔ اسی طرح سورة المعارج میں فرمایا گیا ہے : یَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ یَفْتَدِیْ مِنْ عَذَابِ یَوْمِءِذٍم بِبَنِیْہِ وَصَاحِبَتِہٖ وَاَخِیْہِ وَفَصِیْلَتِہِ الَّتِیْ تُءْوِیْہِ وَمَنْ فِی الْاَرْضِ جَمِیْعًالا ثُمَّ یُنْجِیْہِ مجرم چاہے گا کہ اس دن کے عذاب سے بچنے کے لیے اپنی اولاد کو ‘ اپنی بیوی کو ‘ اپنے بھائی کو ‘ اپنے قریب ترین خاندان کو جو اسے پناہ دینے والا تھا ‘ اور روئے زمین کے سب انسانوں کو فدیہ میں دے دے اور یہ تدبیر اسے نجات دلا دے۔ یہاں فرمایا : تَقَطَّعَتْ بِہِمُ الْاَسْبَابُ ان کے سارے رشتے منقطع ہوجائیں گے یہ لمحۂ فکریہ ہے کہ جن رشتوں کی وجہ سے ہم حرام کو حلال اور حلال کو حرام کر رہے ہیں ‘ جن کی دلجوئی کے لیے حرام کی کمائی کرتے ہیں اور جن کی ناراضی کے خوف سے دین کے راستے پر آگے نہیں بڑھ رہے ہیں ‘ یہ سارے رشتے اسی دنیا تک محدود ہیں اور اخروی زندگی میں یہ کچھ کام نہ آئیں گے۔

Towards the end of the preceding verse it was said that the punishment of the Hereafter is severe. How severe it will be is now the subject of the present verse.The severity of the punishment against which the polytheists have been warned will unfold itself when their leaders whom they followed will disown them as their votaries; and they both, the leaders and the led, will witness the punishment, and whatever bonds of leading and following may have existed between them would be snapped apart, very much like it happens in our mortal world when people share in the illegal but wriggle out when apprehended, so much so, that they would even go to the limit of refusing to recognize their accomplices!When the so-called 'people' of their leaders will see this turnabout of theirs, they will fret and fume but will be unable to do anything about it except wishing that there be a return for them to the mortal world where they could, at least, square up with their greasy leaders - 'May be this time they come back to us seeking our allegiance which would be a perfect time to say no to them and to distance ourselves from them and to do to them what they did to us.'But, what price are these dreams now? They are not going anywhere. They are stuck with 'their deeds which they see as remorse', and they all, the leaders and their followers, 'are not to come out from the Fire', since the punishment for shirk, the grave sin of associating partners with Allah, is to remain in the Fire for ever.
